About Us
The University of Alberta Museums is a distributed network of 28 diverse museum collections located in faculties and departments across campus where they are used daily in teaching, research and community outreach programs. Museums and Collections Services (MACS) is an academic support unit that is the central source of professional museum information, services, programs, and expertise.
The University of Alberta Museums include:
- A central leadership team of museum professionals
- First point of contact for all things “museum” on-campus and off
- Museum Advisory Services in all areas of museum practice for registered collections
and for Uof A and community
- Administration of the campus-wide framework and Policy
- 28 registered museum collections distributed throughout campus
- Each is led by Curators and Support Staff with expertise in the field
- 17 million objects and specimens used daily in teaching, research and community service
- A not-for-profit society, founded in 1984 to support the university's museum collections.
