The Muse Project

What is The Muse Project?
The Muse Project is a curriculum-linked, educational outreach program for grades 4-9 that engage students in object-based research with University of Alberta Museums collections. Each program contains three elements: an on-campus Discovery Tour, a Discovery Kit with resources for the classroom, and web resources for educators.
Since its inception in 2002, The Muse Project has enabled over 10,000 young researchers to explore and benefit from a vast array of world-class research and collections material.
Goals of The Muse Project:
- Provide students with intrinsically-motivated learning opportunities with University of Alberta Museums collections.
- Support the development of critical thinking, historical thinking, and visual literacy skills in young researchers.
- Remove barriers to post-secondary education for students by providing engaging learning experiences on campus.
- Assist University of Alberta curators, collections staff, and professors in providing public access to collections and research.
- Inspire a sense of wonder and a passion for discovery in youth through a research journey from wonder to wisdom.
