Adult Chinese brush-and-ink painting workshop
Learn about some of the traditional Chinese painting techniques seen in the U of A Museums exhibition China’s Imperial Modern: The Painter’s Craft and release your inner artist!
Local artist Hao Zheng leads a two-hour workshop designed to introduce you to the basic materials and techniques used in Chinese brush-and-ink painting. In this hands-on class you will learn how to select a Chinese brush, how to load it with ink and Chinese paints, and how to paint with various rice papers. Using materials provided as part of the registration fee, you will experiment with the basic foundational strokes and principles of composition demonstrated by Hao Zheng.
The workshop fee is $25 (includes materials) and is payable to the University of Alberta Museums. To pay by Visa or Mastercard , please call U of A Museums at 780.492.5834. About the instructor
Hao Zheng was born in China and received a degree in art education from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang, China. She has taught art for four years at Liaoning Art College, China. Her work has been exhibited in China, Japan, the United States, Canada, Korea, and Taiwan. She has also had work published in various Chinese and American magazines. She is currently teaching art in Edmonton.
