Creativity and innovation collide in the University of Alberta Museums’ exhibition Brain Storms: UAlberta Creates at the U of A Museums Galleries at Enterprise Square (10230 Jasper Ave) opening September 25, 2015.

In support of the University of Alberta Alumni Association centenary, this exhibition will feature over 130 U of A alumni from nine different faculties ranging from medicine to fine arts.

Brain Storms is a celebration of creativity” said Janine Andrews, Executive Director of the University of Alberta Museums. “It shows that creativity is essential in any endeavor and goes beyond just art. We at the University of Alberta Museums always believe in pushing creative boundaries with our exhibitions whether it be in art or other mediums and topics.”

From visual art to furniture design, novelists to film makers and with over 200 contributions – new ideas, new works and world-renowned innovations are among those featured.

To be able to accommodate the maximum number of works in this exhibition, there will be an exhibition refresh happening on November 26, where 30 new pieces will be featured in Brain Storms

“We were thrilled by the response from our alumni,” said exhibition and U of A Art Collection curator Jim Corrigan. “This show has some exciting new work and features both local and international University of Alberta alumni.”

The exhibition will run from September 25 – January 23, 2016 at the U of A Museums Galleries at Enterprise Square. The exhibition will refresh on November 26. The gallery is open Thursday & Friday: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and admission is by donation.
